The wife of Tim Lloyd who is Riello UPS’s Projects Manager, Trish, tragically passed away in January at the age of just 45 after battling stage 4 lymphoma blood cancer.
Thanks to a phenomenal level of support already raised, Tim and their two young children Sophie (12) and George (9) have already raised a staggering £9,500 for the charity Bloodwise.
Last month, the Lloyds – plus several other family and friends – successfully tackled the UK’s biggest, best, and bounciest inflatable obstacle course.
With the memory of Trish firmly in their minds, the 5km-long route and 15 challenges including the ‘Mega Mountains’ and ‘Temple of Doom’ proved no match for our determined fundraisers.
Tim, Sophie, and George wish to thank every single one of you who have generously contributed to a cause so close to their hearts, but they have two more quick favours to ask…
When Sophie first came up with the idea of a fundraiser in memory of her mum, she set herself and the family a £500 target. After hitting this in super-fast time, the aim quickly became £5,000.
Now that goal has been smashed too. But wouldn’t it be amazing if they could top the £10,000 mark? Think of how many families suffering just like the Lloyds who that money could help…
Please dig deep and / or share the Just Giving page with your own family, friends, and colleagues to help them top £10,000.
While it’s been a true team effort, we believe Sophie deserves special recognition for her incredible achievements.
Not only did she come up with the idea of a memorial fundraiser, but she also set up the Just Giving page, put together a team of friends and family to overcome the obstacle course, and even organized the food and accommodation everyone needed to take part.
Out of nearly 53,000 campaigners on the whole of Just Giving in May, the amount Sophie’s raised for charity puts her in the top 1%!
We'd like to share with you a message from Sophie's Godmother:
Dear All
You've probably had an email from JustGiving telling you about their fundraising winners' awards. I was thinking it would be great if a number of us could nominate Sophie for her amazing effort, organization, and achievement with the 5km inflatable fundraiser she completed with her team on Saturday.
I know that she didn't do it to get any recognition herself but feel so proud of her for doing this and think she deserves an award and recognition of how awesome she is. I get the impression the more nominations there are, the more likely they will consider her for an award.
As you probably know Sophie set a target of £500 initially but had to very quickly increase this to £5,000 and then the team smashed even this target by raising an incredible total circa £9,500 for Bloodwise.
Sophie got together a team of her friends and family and even organized accommodation and food etc for them so that they could do the event. The team was amazing and everyone completed the course despite some injuries!
You can still nominate Sophie on the JustGiving site here. Just scroll down the page and click on the box that says, Sophie Lloyd. There is one quick question to answer to explain why you think she deserves an award.
Thank you so much in advance!
