VIRTUS Data Centres, part of ST Telemedia Global Data Centres Group, has announced that the final facility at its Stockley Park campus is now online. LONDON8 is a Green VIRTUS data centre and the fourth building on the site to go live.  This brings VIRTUS’ total IT load capacity in the London metro area to circa 90MW on a single campus.

As VIRTUS continues to provide operational excellence with its reliable, resilient and responsible data centre infrastructure, this new site joins VIRTUS’ existing facilities in using 100 per cent renewable energy. Certified to the highest ISO standards ensures that VIRTUS is applying externally verified best practice techniques, including the achievement of operational goals in waste, water, emissions and energy management. As a result, VIRTUS’ buildings are in the top ten per cent of green commercial properties in the UK, and are built and managed sustainably.

At just over seventeen acres, the VIRTUS Stockley Park Campus is London’s largest data centre campus and one of the most advanced in the in the UK. The campus has the secured power capacity to increase to 120MVA of incoming power from diverse grid connection points and 70,000m2 of data centre space. It is design certified to Uptime Institute Tier III standard and will help customers future proof their expansion options for flexible colocation on a site that has the scale to deliver longer term capacity.

VIRTUS’ Data Centre Campus is located at the intersection of UK telecom carriers outer London resilient fibre loops and the lowest latency fibre paths between Slough and London. The mega campus is built to cater for the connectivity requirements of all businesses, from hyper-scalers to proprietary and high frequency trading companies. Access to telecoms duct and high-count fibre is an essential part of VIRTUS’ colocation offering and the company has deployed a multi-subducted infrastructure solution to offer resilient access to all carriers from launch.

With easy access to public cloud platforms through VIRTUS Cloud Connect, this location provides an ideal data centre option for hybrid IT deployments. The VIRTUS campus is immersion technology ready; providing the ability deploy immersion infrastructure to improve density and efficiency.

As well as being one of London’s leading colocation providers, VIRTUS is part of the ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) group, a carrier-neutral and advanced data centre platform that has over 140 data centres worldwide with over 1.8GW of IT load, across 20 major business markets.

VIRTUS’ continued expansion has been fuelled, in part, by the unprecedented rate of growth of enterprise cloud adoption, with VIRTUS becoming home in London to major public clouds. There has been amazing growth in cloud and digital transformation and the London data centre market is now close to 1GW, having doubled every five years since 2010.

LONDON8 going live and the recent appointments of Mike Golding and Christina Mertens with senior EMEA roles comes at an important time for VIRTUS and demonstrates VIRTUS’ growth ambitions.
