UPS CAUSES DATA CENTRE FIRE AT SUPREME COURT
PRESS RELEASE: A data centre fire has occurred at the Supreme Court this morning, Tuesday 12th April, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
The Bureau of Fire Protection said in an initial report that the fire at the High Court along Padre Faura Street in Manila was declared at first alarm at 6:05 a.m.
The Bureau of Fire Protection said the fire broke out at the Judiciary Data Centre Room on the court’s ground floor.
According to the bureau, the fire was put under control at 7:47 a.m. and was totally extinguished at 7:55 a.m.
The Bureau of Fire Protection is investigating the cause of the fire.
Atty. Brian Keith Hosaka, Supreme Court’s Public Information Chief and spokesperson, also confirmed the incident.
“The fire is already controlled and confined only in the Data Centre housed in the SC Centennial Building along Padre Faura. I was told that a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) in the data centre caught fire,” he said in a message to reporters.
The Bureau of Fire Protection has yet to release other details of the fire as of posting time.
