STREAM DATA CENTERS ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR NEW DATA CENTRE FACILITY

PRESS RELEASE: Data centre developer Stream Data Centers is headed to southern Dallas County with a new project.

Stream Data Centers has built two dozen projects, including the most recent in Garland. The division of Dallas-based Stream Realty Partners is now working on a project in Wilmer near Interstate 45.

The first 135,000-square-foot phase of the project will start this summer on a site south of Belt Line Road, according to planning documents filed with the state.

The construction of the $50 million building is scheduled for completion next summer.

The Wilmer development is in an area that is seeing a huge amount of growth from logistics firms and construction of more than 20 million square feet of distribution and warehousing space.

Stream Data Centers recently completed the first phase of a 23-acre data centre in Garland. The project is planned to have an ultimate capacity of 43 megawatts and 275,000 square feet.

Stream Data Centers also has facilities in Houston, San Antonio, Arizona, Illinois and Minnesota.

The company says Fortune 500 firms make up 80% of Stream customers.

North Texas has been one of the country’s fastest-growing data centre markets in recent years. And the Dallas-Fort Worth area saw the largest absorption of data centre capacity on record in 2021, according to a recent report by Cushman & Wakefield.

A rise in data centre utilisation by financial, technology and insurance users has taken up a lot of the North Texas capacity.
