The short listed projects include Christ’s College Lasdun Building, Cambridge, which represents a significant achievement in modern roofing and restoration excellence, combining technical precision, architectural sensitivity, and environmental responsibility. Emperor Roofing was tasked with installing the Sika® Decothane® Ultra liquid-applied waterproofing system, offering a 20-year warranty. This system was chosen for its proven reliability, flexibility, and ability to conform to complex geometries, making it ideally suited to the Lasdun Building’s intricate design.

The Elder House roofing refurbishment project in Milton Keynes focused on two upper plantroom roofs, covering 500m², and the main roof, spanning 1,600m², totalling 2,100m². The main objective was to replace the deteriorated asphalt roofing system, which had endured years of exposure and multiple temporary repairs, with a durable and thermally efficient solution that would enhance both the performance and appearance of the building. In partnership with Cemplas Waterproofing & Concrete Repairs Ltd, the Sika® Decothane® Ultra roofing system was installed, which involved repair and priming of the substrate, installation of an air and vapour control layer (AVCL), insulation, and a carrier membrane before applying the reinforced Decothane® Ultra roof waterproofing system.

Cemplas Waterproofing & Concrete Repairs Ltd > Liquid Roofing Project of the Year (>1000m2) finalist
The third project to make it as a finalist was the iconic Trafford Centre in Manchester, which is a landmark destination, and home to one of the world’s largest chandeliers, weighing an impressive 5.5 tons. The Peel Roof North and South project involved the full refurbishment of extensive roof areas located above the retail units and the roof sections for this project played a crucial role in protecting high-profile retail tenant spaces below.
Recognising the need for a reliable waterproofing solution Sikalastic®-625N was specified for its compatibility with complex roof geometries and its verified performance characteristics, including flexibility and environmental resistance, supported by testing to relevant standards. Covering an impressive 23,500m², the works were successfully carried out by Makers Construction Ltd while the Trafford Centre remained fully operational, requiring meticulous planning and coordination to avoid disruption to retailers and the visiting public.
