International battery manufacturer Saft has released a video explaining the merits of their Mission Critical Lithium-ion battery Flex’ion, which has been specifically designed for use in data centre UPS systems.

Nick Finney, Product Manager Flex’ion and Zdenek Opatrny, Li-ion Systems Production & Engineering Manager at Saft introduces and explains some of the many features and benefits relating to Flex’ion in this short video.  This video introduction offers an insight as to why Saft claims that “Flex’ion gives superior performance and the highest levels of safety, reliability and availability”.

Flex’ion has been developed and fine-tuned over a period of nearly 10 years, with the first Intensium Flex versions being supplied to industrial standby and switchgear applications. The demands from Data Centre applications for a safer, more robust solution, saw a dedicated development team set up in Raskovice, Czech Republic, taking the lessons learned from Intensium Flex and coming up with the safest, most robust data centre battery on the market today.

Saft selected its own SLFP Super Lithium Iron Phosphate chemistry, made in France, to address safety concerns expressed by insurers and Data Centre operators alike around metal oxide chemistries like NMC and LMO which, in turn, enabled a safer, more robust design.

Flex’ion is available in a high-power version for short discharge autonomies and medium power for longer autonomies and uses a modular concept to match a range of voltages up to 750V DC.

Extensive safety and abuse testing carried out both in our facilities and by Underwriter’s Laboratories to ensure compliance with relevant safety standards ensures that Flex’ion really is the safest, most robust Data Centre battery available.
