Pure Data Centres and SEGRO have secured planning approval for a £1bn, 72MW hyperscale data centre at Premier Park in west London.

The Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation planning committee has backed plans to replace a redundant warehouse with a three-storey, liquid-cooled facility designed by Scott Brownrigg.

The 22,365 sq m scheme will house nine data halls alongside office space, plant, storage and a secure entrance pavilion, supported by a dedicated substation to power the high-capacity site.

Construction is set to start in 2026.

The project is being delivered by a joint venture between Pure Data Centres Group and SEGRO as demand for AI-ready digital infrastructure accelerates across London.

Designed around a simple, linear layout, the building is engineered to maximise IT capacity and operational efficiency while maintaining a strong visual presence, particularly for passing rail passengers along the northern boundary.

The scheme is targeting BREEAM Excellent and A-rated EPC office space, with sustainability measures including photovoltaic panels, rainwater harvesting and potential heat recovery systems.

Sam Stevens, head of advanced technologies at Scott Brownrigg, said: “Working collaboratively with the local authority and key stakeholders has allowed the team to deliver a high-quality design with unanimous support from the planning committee.”

The approval adds another major digital infrastructure project to Park Royal as the area strengthens its position as a key west London industrial and logistics hub.
