Planning consent has been granted for a new 15MW data centre development in Surrey as part of a £500m campus expansion being brought forward by real estate investor Castleforge in partnership with operator and advisory firm Galaxy Data centres.

The new development at Foxboro Business Park in Redhill involves construction of a single two-storey facility with four data halls which is set to support a local waste heat recovery initiative.

This latest move will see a further £200m invested in the Redhill campus, which currently spans 127,000 sq ft, following the partnership’s £100m-plus investment in December 2024.

The development has been designed to achieve a BREEAM Very Good rating for sustainability and incorporates a range of low and zero carbon technologies.

Waste heat generated by the facility will be reused on site, and the design enables future export of waste heat to the neighbouring residential heat network.

The expansion follows surging demand for digital infrastructure across the London market, driven by advancements in AI, cloud computing and hybrid workloads.

Approval for the expansion was granted by the planning committee at Reigate & Banstead Borough Council.
