When she’s not leading the charge at DATACENTRE.ME, Managing Director Ruth can be found donning a pinny and serving up smiles at her local church. Every Friday morning during term time, Ruth swaps the world of data centres for the warmth of a bustling community kitchen, helping to run a weekly lunch for the over-50s alongside her brother.

This tradition started in January 2024, as Ruth prepared for a very different culinary challenge: catering for 250 Scouts, Explorers, and Leaders during a July 2024 trip to the International Scouting Centre in Kandersteg, Switzerland. Eager to get to grips with large-scale catering, Ruth joined the community lunch team to hone her skills. What began as preparation for one adventure quickly became a cherished weekly habit.

Today, Ruth continues to serve hearty meals and heaps of good cheer to a group of 50 diners every week. Her passion for the role shines through, especially when it comes to pudding time. Ruth loves experimenting with new dessert recipes for the group, always ensuring there’s one constant: a generous helping of custard!

The week after the DCME Charity Christmas Party, Ruth and her team pulled out all the stops for a festive feast. The event was filled with holiday cheer, much like Ruth’s unwavering dedication to her community.
