Looking back on the day-to-day realities of working in a live operational environment, Tony Shaw points to communication as one of the most important factors in maintaining progress and reducing risk. “The biggest challenge was coordinating multiple subcontractors working in the same areas across a large and active site. Communication had to be constant to keep everything moving in the right direction.”

When asked what stood out most after four and a half years on the programme, Tony Shaw returned to a theme that underpins every successful infrastructure project: collaboration. “The most important aspect to take away from the project is that working as a team is better than pulling in different directions.”
