DATABANK ANNOUNCES SNA2 DATA CENTRE EXPANSION
PRESS RELEASE: DataBank has announced the expansion of its SNA2 data centre in Irvine, CA, helping to support the region’s growing technology ecosystem. The new development will add 24,000 square feet of raised floor space and 4MW of Critical Power inclusive of a dedicated catcher reserve block.
Located at 17400 Von Karman Avenue in Orange County, DataBank’s SNA2 downtown Irvine facility is governed by the City’s Strategic Technology Plan. The data centre facility is a carrier-neutral interconnection hub with access to several on-site carriers and many internet, fibre, interconnect, and cross-connect options.
More tech jobs are gravitating to the region than anywhere in North America, as many large firms are tapping into recent graduates of UC Irvine and other tech-cantered universities. Combined with the area’s expanding electric-vehicle and high-tech manufacturing markets, these companies add to the strong foundation of established tech companies, including Google, Blackberry, and Oracle.
“Companies from Silicon Valley and other conventional tech hubs are expanding or relocating to this area,” said DataBank Vice President of Construction, Tony Qorri.
“DataBank expansion affirms Irvine’s growing importance in the data centre market. If technology growth trends are any indication, this will not be our last expansion in the Orange County area.”
DataBank’s SNA2 downtown Irvine facility includes a 2N power design and N+1 cooling for the ultimate in uptime assurance. The Tier III facility features security measures that include dual-factor authentication, 7x24x365 staffing, mantrap, alarm, and CCTV. SNA2 is SSAE18, SOC1, SOC2, HIPAA, GLBA, and PCI-DSS compliant.
