BDX OPENS FIRST PHASE OF NEW DATA CENTRE CAMPUS

PRESS RELEASE: Hong Kong-headquartered Big Data Exchange (BDx) has opened the first phase of its 35MW NKG Data Centre Campus in Nanjing, China.

The NKG1 facility is the first data centre in the city to earn Tier 3 certification and offers 4MW of IT power for colocation services.

It is powered by two separate 10-kilovolt feeders from two substations that will provide the whole NKG campus with 60MVA of total power sanctioned from the grid.

Work on the data centre started last year. “We worked through the challenges of completing a major construction project during the peak of the pandemic because customers were anticipating this launch to support an unprecedented surge of growth and capacity requirements,” said Bill Gao, EVP and CEO for BDx Greater China.

NKG1 lays a solid foundation for BDx to provide OTTs, financial services institutions and Fortune 500 MNC customers with high reliability, high redundancy and low latency solutions,” Gao said.

BDx plans to launch phase two of the campus within the year. NKG2 is designed to be minimally- manned and almost lights-out.

BDx currently operates six data centres across Hong Kong, China and Singapore. Earlier this year, BDx completed a 2MW upgrade to its acquired Singapore facility, with plans to add another 8MW of capacity later this year, taking it to 14MW.
