During the Light + Building 2026, Legrand and Zumtobel Group formally signed a strategic partnership agreement to jointly deliver next-generation lighting and control solutions for data-driven, energy-efficient buildings worldwide.

The alliance responds to accelerating global demand for smart building infrastructures driven by decarbonisation targets, digitalisation, and increasing regulatory pressure on energy performance. Lighting systems are evolving from standalone installations into intelligent, networked platforms that integrate data, automation, and operational optimisation.

By combining high-quality professional luminaires with connected, powerful lighting management systems, the partners will provide an interoperable, scalable solution architecture designed to:

  • reduce operational energy consumption and support carbon reduction strategies
  • enable real-time data transparency for facility optimisation;
  • simplify system integration within broader building management ecosystems; and
  • deliver lifecycle value from commissioning through operation.

Placing building users and owners at the heart of installations is paramount, and this is made possible through the combined application of lighting management and software expertise, as well as the integration of intelligent LED driver and sensor technologies within luminaires.

The collaboration will initially focus on large-scale international projects across Europe, MEA, and APAC, particularly in commercial offices, healthcare facilities, data centres, and industrial environments – segments experiencing strong demand for resilient, digitally enabled infrastructure.

Beyond project collaboration, the partnership establishes a coordinated go-to-market approach and technical alignment to ensure consistent standards, system interoperability, and streamlined specification processes for international customers.

“The building sector is undergoing a profound transformation. Our customers are no longer investing in lighting products alone – they are investing in intelligent infrastructure that contributes to decarbonisation, operational transparency, and long-term asset value. By joining forces with Legrand, we strengthen our position as a holistic solutions provider in this evolving market.”

— Alfred Felder, CEO of the Zumtobel Group

“As regulatory requirements tighten and customers accelerate their decarbonization strategies, lighting systems must deliver more than illumination. This partnership combines advanced, data-driven light management with premium lighting technology to create scalable solutions that reduce energy consumption, enhance operational transparency, and integrate seamlessly into broader building management systems. Together with the Zumtobel Group, we are strengthening our ability to support complex international projects across commercial offices, data centres, healthcare facilities, and industrial environments with efficient, future-ready infrastructure.”

— Evert Schaeffer, who leads Legrand’s Lighting and Building Systems division across Europe, MEA, APAC, and Latam

With this strategic partnership agreement signed at Light + Building 2026, both companies underline their shared ambition to shape the next phase of intelligent building development – where lighting becomes a strategic component of digital and sustainable infrastructure.
