That’s the staggering amount of money planned for three data centre projects in the works in south central Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania Data Centre Partners and PowerHouse Data Centres are planning a $15 billion data centre campus in the Carlisle area. It was presented at an energy conference that drew President Donald Trump and Gov. Josh Shapiro as among the second-largest projects. Only one similar project of 18 across the state will draw a bigger investment.

The other commitments announced for central Pa., include: a $6 billion investment by CoreWeave to build a data centre in the Lancaster area. And a $5 billion project by Energy Capital Partners to develop a data centre in York County.

The central Pa. projects were among a series of announcements made as part of U.S. Sen. Dave McCormick’s Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

Pennsylvania Data Centre Partners and PowerHouse Data Centres are planning to build three hyperscale data centre campuses on a nearly 700-acre site in Middlesex Township, Cumberland County, near Carlisle.

“This landmark deal with PowerHouse represents a pivotal step for our expansion across Pennsylvania—a state uniquely positioned for data centre development thanks to our state and local leaders willing to tap its abundant natural power resources,” said Igal J. Feibush, CEO of Pennsylvania Data Centre Partners, according to a news release. “We’re proud to help lead the charge in building the infrastructure that will define the next era of AI and technological innovation.”

The three data centre campuses will each have six buildings and a dedicated 450 megawatt substation. The new AI data hub, Pennsylvania Digital I will deliver 1.35 gigawatts of capacity with expandability up to 1.8 GW.

Last month, Middlesex Township supervisors voted to adopt land use rules for data centres that would apply to 694 acres of currently undeveloped land off Country Club Road.

“This venture between Pennsylvania Data Centre Partners and PowerHouse Data Centres is groundbreaking for AI infrastructure,” McCormick said in the news release. “It’s a bold and meaningful investment that puts Pennsylvania at the heart of America’s emerging AI tech economy.”

In Lancaster County, CoreWeave has announced it intends to build an initial 100 megawatt data centre with the potential to expand to 300 megawatts, the company said in a news release.

“The demand for high-performance AI computer is relentless,” Michael Intrator, co-founder, chairman of the board, and CEO of CoreWeave, said in a different news release. “This data centre will accelerate innovation and drive economic growth across the region.”

CoreWeave didn’t identify the exact location, how large the data centre will be or when it will open. CoreWeave said it will be the tenant of a site, co-developed by Chirisa Technology Parks and Machine Investment Group.

The company said the project is expected to create about 600 jobs during the construction phase, with approximately 70 full-time technical and operational roles at launch, and scaling to about 175 over time.

CoreWeave has 33 AI data centres, including 28 in the United States.

In York County, Energy Capital Partners is planning to develop a data centre at the York II Energy Centre. The project is expected to create 2,500 new construction jobs. In addition, Energy Capital Partners plans to develop 51 community solar projects designed to power 24,000 homes.
