The DCA – Data Centre Alliance, is a not-for-profit trade association representing the UK data centre community. Bringing together owners, operators, technology providers, suppliers, consultants and other organisations, the DCA provides an independent platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing and industry engagement.
A central part of the DCA’s role is raising awareness of the importance of data centres among businesses, government, the media and wider public. As demand for digital infrastructure grows, driven by cloud services, artificial intelligence and high-performance computing, the organisation helps ensure the sector remains represented and informed as technical, environmental, regulatory and operational requirements evolve.
The DCA promotes data centre standards, industry best practice, skills development and environmental sustainability. Members can contribute expertise, discuss emerging challenges and participate in initiatives supporting the long-term development of the UK data centre sector.
Knowledge sharing is another important focus. The DCA provides access to technical information, industry contacts, events and thought leadership, while enabling members and partners to publish content and participate in discussions. Events include briefings, networking sessions and educational activities connecting professionals across the data centre ecosystem.
The DCA also engages with government and organisations influencing digital infrastructure. In 2026, it entered a strategic partnership with National Grid Electricity Distribution to strengthen engagement between the electricity network and data centre sector, including guidance around connection options and infrastructure requirements.
Its Advisory Council brings together subject-matter experts and technology specialists to collaborate on challenges including energy efficiency, legislation and sustainability.
Through representation, education, standards, research, events and collaboration, the DCA provides a focal point where organisations across the UK data centre community can connect, exchange knowledge and contribute to the sector’s future development.
