Key Challenges
With all preparation work carried out during normal working hours, the largest challenge to overcome involved breaking down the existing Master Plus 400 kVA UPS weighing 2,600 kg and over 1,600 mm wide into manageable sections and removing overnight at a weekend prior to installing and commissioning the replacement Multi Power UPS system in an agreed timescale.
The Solution
Good communication along with a detailed and clear plan of works was essential to ensuring all/any risks to downtime were minimised, with Options Technology actively participating in these discussions.
The changeover works were completed over four separate weekends with one Multi Power installed each weekend, with Options Technology’s data centre now fully protected against short-term power outages by the Riello UPS systems.
