Engineering and Prefabrication: Saving time with engineering and offsite prefabrication

Read this case study from Georg Fischer Piping Systems. It describes their work at a new hyperscale data centre under construction in Dublin, Ireland.

Plastic Pipes For Cooling

The eco-FIT PE-100 (polyethylene) system from GF Piping Systems was chosen for the process cooling water. The use of plastic pipes for cooling met the ultra-stringent quality requirements for the hyperscale data centre.

GF, as the piping system provider, were also able to leverage its in-house expertise in data centres to provide a range of engineering services on the project. This included supporting the design and installation process which helped add crucial value by enabling the piping system design to be verified and adapted where necessary.

The Outcome

Georg Fisher Piping Systems were also able to offer off-site fabrication, helping to meet quality assurance requirements and reducing time on-site. The combination of this, along with the chosen piping system allowed on-site installation time, for the process water, to be signifcantly reduced from 6 months to 6 weeks.
