Sustainability Goals: Sikla joins the United Nations for a Green Future

Sustainability has always been at the core of Sikla.

As a group, Sikla aspires to improve the whole company's sustainability efforts by 2030. By then we plan to operate as a climate-neutral company and create an environmentally sustainable future for generations to come. We are confident that we can achieve these goals by working with the visions of the United Nations.

Sikla UK & Ireland and Sikla Oceania are committed to being environmentally and socially responsible for our corporate management. We are aware of the social and environmental effects that our business can have and we are dedicated to increasing our contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals are 17 goals agreed by all United Nations Members in 2015. These goals strive to improve the lives of humans and the planet while tackling the effects of climate change, poverty and inequality.

United Nations Global Compact

We are proud to announce that Sikla UK & Ireland and Sikla Oceania are signatories of the  United Nations Global Compact. The United Nations Global Compact is the largest corporate sustainability movement in the world. In August 2023, there were over 23 000 participants from 166 countries who are committed to strengthening their strategies to align with the United Nations' ten principles:

  • Human Rights
  • Labour
  • Environment
  • Anti-corruption

Sustainability Goals

Our efforts to achieve a climate-neutral company by 2030 are not just reliant on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and Global Compact. The Sikla Holding Board has created a roadmap for the group to follow to ensure achieve our goals. We will meet this by:

  • Having an electric fleet
  • Source goods locally
  • Environmental Management
  • Ecovadis Gold Rating

The Sikla group is committed to joining the United Nations Global Compact and some branches are currently working towards this.

Electric Vehicles

To compensate for unavoidable emissions, the entire Sikla fleet of vehicles will be entirely electric with most of the energy coming from renewable resources.

Sikla UK has already started the process of switching to electric or hybrid vehicles, with two more added to the fleet in 2023. They are also looking to have electric charging points added to their premise in  Milton Keynes for all staff to use.

Supply Chain

For subsidiaries in Europe, products are sourced and manufactured locally to avoid long transport routes. Currently, 67 % of the products are manufactured in Germany and another 25 % in other European countries.

ISO 14001 – Environmental Management

ISO 14001 is an international environmental standard certification that helps companies align and improve their environmental management.

Sikla UK and Oceania are currently working to obtain the ISO 14001 certification.

EcoVadis

Our sustainability management is regularly assessed by  EcoVadis, the worlds largest platform for corporate sustainability ratings.

Due to our progress in the areas of the environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement, we have been awarded the  EcoVadis Bronze Medal for the Sikla Group in 2026. This progress confirms our position among the top 35% of companies assessed by EcoVadis.

Our goal is to achieve the Gold EcoVadis Medal by the end of 2029.

Environmental Product Declarations (EPD)

An  EPD is an independent verification providing details on the environmental impact of a product or building material throughout its lifecycle. This declaration relies on applicable standards and factual data to assess the product's sustainability and compare CO2 emissions.

From May 2025, Sikla is the only company in our industry to possess an EPD for every product ranges. Access the links below to view and download copies now:
